2006-10-23 - Beak Cleaner

It pays to be alert when taking photos because sometimes better shots can land right in front of you (literally). I was trying to photograph a small wallaby in the long grass when I saw some movement to my left. This Noisy Miner bird had landed a couple of metres away from me. Quickly I took one shot and before I could even think of taking another, it was gone.

Unfortunately I missed my focus point a bit and the head is not totally sharp but I am happy enough since it was such a reaction shot. The ironic part of this all is that despite having my new 1.7x teleconverter on the lens, I only needed 200mm, which is what I had without the teleconverter (this is completely uncropped).
