2013-01-02 - Fantasia
In June last year I found myself in the coastal town of Essaouira, Morocco. It is an amazing place and I spent a week there, soaking up all the colour and excitement it had to offer during the Gnaoua World Music Festival.
I have many more photographs to share from my time in Morocco but for now, this is one of my favourites. The Fantasia or "Game of Gunpowder" is a spectacular display of horsemanship where riders line up and charge down the beach, firing their guns in unison as they reach the end of the run. It is quite intimidating seeing the horses thundering towards you and the volley of gunfire at the end adds to the experience. It's not something I'll soon forget!
